There is some evidence that starting an exercise program will lead to changes in an exerciser's diet. The amount of physical activity in which people low bodyfat participate in is inversely related to their fat intake; the more they exercise, the less fat they consume. This suggests that active low bodyfat people have a preference for carbohydrates. It may also contribute to the relative ease with which they appear to balance calories. A combination of mild caloric restriction and regular physical activity is more effective in reducing body weight than either approach alone. Furthermore, the addition of exercise to a comprehensive weight management program has multiple health benefits, such as a reduction of the risk for developing heart disease.
