Is this normal? A Soreness is to be expected when you hit each muscle group so infrequently. "You're basically starting over each week," says Los Angeles fitness trainer Ken Alan, a spokesman for the American Council on Exercise. "The intense stimulus shocks your muscles." You'll be much less sore if you work each muscle group twice a week. Instead of devoting an entire hour to just half of your muscles, Alan suggests, cut down the number of exercises and sets per muscle group so that you can work all your muscles on both days you work out.
