In low intensity exercise fats are used as a preferable fuel source than carbohydrates. The food eaten from the next meal will in turn replenish these fuel stores. An additional benefit may be the significant proportion of the food eaten used to resupply both the fat and carbohydrate stores. This may leave little excess carbohydrate to be temporarily stored as fat.
