IIRC, economists generally agree that 150,000 new jobs/month are needed to keep pace w/ population growth. Here's one source goofy that cites that number. Here's another. So "only 58,000" jobs isn't an unreasonable way to present this info. Further, the article points out that these end-of-the-month estimates are sometimes revised when more reliable data becomes available. To wit: The Labor Department also said that 36,000 fewer jobs were added in August and September than previously estimated. The overall picture of the economy is portrayed as quite mixed in this article. Some indicators are up. Some are down. So, it doesn't seem to be anywhere near as slanted as most LGF readers expect MSM articles to be.
